Maj Michael Scott-Hopkins MBE AAC (former Grenadier Gds) (Retd) died 15 May 2011 aged 63 (source:”Hawkeye” Issue 20, Sep 2011), of cancer. He received his MBE in the 2002 Honours List

The Army Aviation Centre has paid the following tribute:

After a distinguished career with the Army Air Corps Michael spent 15 years as the ACTT Manager where he developed through tireless effort and determination one of the critical training devices utilised by all aircrew under instruction at Middle Wallop. He was visionary in his approach and passionate about the development and delivery of the best possible training, Michael will leave a legacy which will endure for many years.

Despite undergoing debilitating chemotherapy, Michael remained positive, insisting on continuing to work and fought to the end.

Last year he was awarded a JHC Commander’s Commendation. Michael will leave a tremendous hole within the Station and will be sorely missed”
