It is with sadness that we report recently received news that Michael Allardice (Mike) died on 16 Oct 16 at his home in Warminster.
Mike was commissioned into the RA and had a full career with the gunners in 7 RHA, 49 Regt RA and 2nd Regt RA and also went for flying training. He was with 660 Squadron in Soest in 1973. He converted to Gazelle at Middle Wallop in 1974.
He also made use of his flying training by commanding JATE at Brize Norton. He was a Company Commander at RMAS and always spoke very fondly of his time on the BMATT in Namibia. Mike returned to duties with the RA at the end of his flying tour.
After retiring from the Army Mike settled in Warminster, but always had a sense of adventure, visiting Africa and flying in para gliders, and most recently Microlights. He had only just acquired a very smart Foxbat microlight that some may have seen in the skies above Old Sarum over the last few months. He is survived by his 3 children, Tom, George and Debbie.
His funeral is being held at the Salisbury Crematorium, 1 Barrington Rd, Salisbury SP1 3JB at 1345 on Thu 3 Nov 16.
Mourners will be invited to join the family at the Officer’s Mess at Larkhill afterwards – the details will be included on the Order of Service.
If anyone is attending the funeral, could you please inform RHQ.
