Pay Respect

It is with sadness that Hawkeye has learned on the death of WO1 (Retd) Lance Robert Moore Andrews AFM (4 Feb 44 – 4 Jul 21) aged 77. Lance enlisted for service with the Queen’s Royal Irish Hussars on 5 Sep 60. At Regimental Duty he served with QRIH in UK, Aden, Malaya, Singapore, Borneo and BAOR between 1960 and Oct 1965. He then attended Army Pilot Course 187 at Middle Wallop, graduating in Dec 69 and converting to Scout in Feb 70. There followed tours of duty with 658 Squadron in Minden. 651 Squadron in Verden and 663 Squadron in Netheravon, with two detached tours to Northern Ireland. He attended the Central Flying School in Mar 77 and graduated as a QHI in July that year. A two year tour as an instructor at Middle Wallop was followed two years with 655 Squadron taking in Long Kesh, Topcliffe and Omagh. In 1982 he joined D&T Squadron at Middle Wallop before moving to his last posting in 1986 with 666 Sqn AAC(V) at Netheravon. He retired from Regular Service in 1986 and from the TA in Feb 99. Our thoughts are with his wife Yvonne, his family and his many friends and comrades.
