Will Moule Al was one of the DS at Wallop for my phase two training. He was fit, switched on, knew his trade and was a genuinely likeable guy. He was held in some awe by us crowbag toms!
He was definitely an NCO we all hoped, as young toms, we could become. Never a man I could say was a friend, but purely because of his character and bearing, there was a genuine sadness at the news of his passing, knowing the world was a darker place without his presence. -
Graham Smith Went through basic with Al back in 89 top bloke. Remember him ragging us on our Senior Cadre! Had loads of potential RIP Al
-
Gavin Williams I remember the call from the boss to tell me Al had died… was such a total shock and a horrible waste of a young life. His funeral was a very sad affair and I still remember the pain his family felt. God rest you Al and I hope your family are happy and well
-

Gavin Williams Was a while ago mate, must have been 96ish?

Andy Mustang Girdler 98 I think. I didn’t get on with him, I wasn’t supposed to, he was DS (and not the fluffy approachable kind) and I was crow. No doubt he was a very good soldier though.
-
Martin Clark Split the difference guys it was early 97, I was at wallop at the time , very sad. He was a nice fella and we talked bikes alot.
-
Joel Diggle Mid 1997 was when sadly Al Bright was killed in Motorbike accident after leaving for home from MW, I had just completed my B3 Groundies Cse and was on hold there awaiting the Guidon Parade that summer and helped out on the following Cse.
-

He was a great guy always there for you I learnt alot from him, Me and Al started with our first unit together on the same day (2 FLT AMF(L)) and shared the same room for 3 years Me, Al and Wyn Pryce
-
Wyn Pryce Fantastic bloke and friend missed by all who knew him. He couldn’t drink much mind. RIP Al
-
Dave Walton He died whilst my section commander at MW in ’97. He hated me due to my crowiness and general poor soldiering but looking back with the knowledge and experience I now have it seems he was only looking out for me as any good section commander should. RIP.
-
Andy Mustang Girdler Couldn’t have said it better Dave. He outright told me that he wouldn’t let shits like me get to a regiment unless I bucked my ideas up. He was looking after the Corp he loved so much.
