I regret to inform the wider Army Aviation family of the death of Lt Col (Retd) Geoffrey Davison MBE 0n Fri 5 Jul 13 at the age of 87. Geoff served a full and varied career in the Army from the age of 16 in 1942 as Gunner through to retirement from the RA at Larkhill as a Lt Col. On the way he served as a pilot with the GPR from 1945 to 1948 including a tour in Palestine and with D Squadron GPR in Egypt and Waterbeach. He flew solo in a Tiger Moth in Feb 45 and was qualified as a Glider Pilot in late Mar 45. He served with the RA in Germany, Cyprus and Hong Kong and was commissioned from RSM to be a QM in UK. His connection with the military continued as a Civil Service Instructor at Collerne near Bath.
I received this information from his son, Bruce who is justifiably proud of his father’s achievements. He and his family have invited attendance at the funeral, which will be held at the Portchester Crematorium, Hampshire PO16 8NE at 1530 hours on Friday 19th July 2013 and a reception at the Cams Hall Estate Golf Club. The RA and RA Association have already indicated an intention to attend. Please contact Bruce directly if you or any of your members will attend.
