Pay Respect

Received from RHQ:

Ladies and Gentlemen,

It is with deep sadness that we report the passing of Lt Col (Retd) Samuel Murray Drennan MBE DFC AFC (Sam) (7 Sep 46 – 10 Aug 17) at the age of 71 following a period of illness. Sam will be well known to many of us in the modern AAC and there are many who were wounded on Op CORPORATE who are grateful for his actions in the conflict that resulted in the award of the DFC. Sam enlisted for service with the Scots Guards in 1966. He attended APC 223 in 1971. His service across the AAC included 662, 669, D&T, 664, 656 Squadrons, 3 and 25 Flights before taking command of 669 Sqn AAC in NI and then 670 and 671 Sqns at Middle Wallop. He was SFI Land from 1993 to 1996 and the SO1 Avn Stds in HQ DAAvn until he retired in 1999. Our thoughts are with his wife, Carol, his family and friends and comrades. There are no further details – additional information will be released when known.
