Pay Respect

From Dave’s wife Gretta:

24126205 Sgt D Gallichan 22 July 1952 –  Dave died on 13 July 2014

David died at home, he had been ill for a while but his death was very sudden. His funeral is on Friday 25 July at 2 o’clock at Enford village church committal afterwards at village cemetery if anyone wants to attend?

Dave came from a military family, his dad was a major in the ACC, so all 3 boys joined the Army. Dave went straight from school to boy service, but joined REME as this was his dream. When training was over he was posted to RAF Aldergrove. In 1970 he met married me in Belfast on 9/10/71.

Shortly   after this he was posted to Wolfenbuttel West Germany with 17/21 lancers in 1974 he was made a Cpl then posted to Middle Wallop, where he stayed for 3 or 4 yrs. During this time, he did his Sgt course then he was posted to Hong Kong to Tonsek Kong village where he stayed for 2/3 years.

He was then posted to Omagh in Northern Ireland where he served 2 yrs and there he was then posted to the UN Flight in Nicosia serving 2 yrs. From Cyprus, we were posted to Hildesheim, West Germany for 2yrs. His final posting in Germany was Minden. As Dave’s 22yrs was drawing close he was posted to Netheravon for last couple years.

Dave also did a few unaccompanied tours to Germany, Canada and Kenya. After he came out, he went to work for Bristows, also E.T.P.S. Over the years Dave made a lot of good friends and once seen, never forgotten is a very true statement everyone who knew him loved him.

Dave leaves 3 beautiful daughters and 1 much longed for son to carry on his name David Gallichan (Jnr).

“If I should die and leave you, do not keep long vigils by the silent dust and weep for my sake turn to life and smile and complete any unfinished tasks of mine”. R.I.P Dad, you will always be in our hearts,  never forgotten and loved always xxxxxxxx
