Sir Jack Arnold Hayward OBE
It is with great sadness that I inform the wider Army Aviation family of the recent death of Sir Jack Hayward on
13th January 2015 in Fort Lauderdale aged 91, a veteran of the Glider Pilot Regiment.
In 1941, at the age of 18, he joined the Royal Air Force. He soon obtained his wings and he trained in Canada and
America before being posted to India where he volunteered as a glider pilot for the war against the Japanese. He flew
missions over Burma and was demobilised as a Flight Lieutenant in 1946. He was later to become, an English business man, property developer, philanthropist and president of the English Football club Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Our thoughts are with his family.
