Pay Respect

Ladies and Gentlemen,

It is with regret that we inform you that Major (Retd) Richard Peter Neil (Crusher) Koldewey (24 Feb 44 – 15 Jun 20) passed away peacefully at his home in Virginia, USA.
Richard commissioned into the Royal Tank Regiment on 30 Jul 1965. Having passed P Coy he served as Troop Commander with the RAC Para Sqn before attending Army Pilot Course No 219. On successful completion, he was posted to 664 Avn Sqn, Farnborough as a Scout Pilot. Richard transferred from the RTR to the AAC as a Captain in 1974 and took command of the Sioux Flt with the resident cavalry regiment in Omagh, NI. He was promoted to Major in 1976 and served as a DS in the Jnr Div of Staff College until 79. He went on to command 664 Sqn AAC in Minden before retiring from the Army on 1 Jun 1981. One of his close friends and comrades said, “Richard was one of those rare individuals who was able to get the best out of everyone, and everyone respected him.”
Richard leaves behind his wife Helen, two daughters in the UK and two sons in the USA. Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this sad time.
Kind Regards

Vic
