A contemporary, Lt Col David McLeod AAC (Retd), says: “He was in the same platoon in Burma Coy Intake 29. I seem to remember he was a Truckie on the (polot) course before mine at Wallop [can’t remember the number]. He qualified just a few weeks before he died; should never have been sent out flying at night in unfamiliar terrain with so little experience”.
