It is with deep sadness that we report the death of Allan Rolling on 13 Apr 19 (2 Mar 30 – 13 Apr 19). Allan had enlisted for service in 1945. He transferred to the Royal Engineers in 1948. Following his qualification as an Army Pilot he transferred to the Army Air Corps in 1960. His military service included tours of duty in Kenya, Malaya and the Falkland Islands. Allan retired from service as a WO1 Army pilot in 1973 but continued with his flying career. He flew with Air Westward, Alderney Air Ferries and Bristow Helicopters, tours that included Nigeria and the South Atlantic.

In 2014 Allan suffered a head injury, which caused an intracerebral haemorrhage. That injury resulted in a deterioration of his health. He was cared for at home by his wife, Doreen, until he was admitted to a care home in 2018. Our thoughts are with his wife, Doreen and his daughters, Tonia and Haxel.

Allan’s cremation will take place at 15.15hrs on 8th May 19 at Salisbury Crematorium, 1 Barrington Road, Salisbury SP1 3JB. Afterwards there will be a gathering at The Silver Plough,White Hill, Pitton. SP5 1DU.
