It is with deep sadness that we inform you of the passing of Karl Smith on Monday 7th May 18. Airtrooper Karl Smith enlisted into the Army Air Corps on 18th December 2003 as a Groundcrew Soldier and served within 664 Squadron and Headquarter Squadron of 9 Regiment AAC where he worked in Motor Transport, Stores and latterly as a Physical Training Instructor. Karl deployed on two Operational tours of Afghanistan and was part of the inaugural deployment of the UK Attack Helicopter to Afghanistan in 2006 where he conducted duties as part of an Apache Arming Team. Karl was discharged from the Army on 16th December 2016 and settled in Stanley Crook, County Durham. Karl’s untimely passing at the age of 31 is felt deeply by all members of the AAC Family. Our thoughts are with Karl’s son, family and friends.
Karl’s funeral will be held at Durham Crematorium on 21 May 18 at 1430.
