It is with sadness that we report that Maj (Retd) T N (Tim) Taylor died at the age of 76 on 25 July 2017 (1941 – 2017) at home in Long Marston, Warwickshire following a period of illness. Tim was commissioned into the South Wales Borderers, serving in Germany, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Korea and Borneo. He attended APC 188 in 1966/7 and subsequently served in 7 Flt AAC in Malaysia and commanded 14 Flt in Singapore and Borneo. After QHI training in 1970, he joined the Blue Eagles as Team Leader in 1971. Subsequent flying and staff tours took him to GB, Northern Ireland and Germany. He retired from service in 1979 and spent two years crop-spraying in the UK before becoming the Director of Horse Trials in the British Horse Society. When Tim knew that his illness was terminal he set about making the most of his time. That included lunch at The Ritz organised by a friend and neighbour and attended by Lt Col Huw Law AAC, whose grandfather had served in the South Wales Borderers. He and his wife, Penelope then embarked upon a month long tour of New Zealand to visit their youngest son, his wife and two granddaughters. Our thoughts are with Penelope and with his two sons and his daughter. His memorial will be on Thu 3 Aug 17 at 1530 in St Swithin’s Church, Lower Quinton, Stratford-on-Avon, CV37 8SG. Please inform RHQ if you will be attending so number can be passed onto family.
