It is with sadness that we have learned of the passing of Major General George Malcolm Hutchinson MA (known as Malcolm) REME at the age of 86 (24 Aug 35 – 28 Sep 21). Major General Hutchinson was commissioned into the REME as a University Candidate in 1958. There followed a range of appointments that took him to the USA, BAOR and UK. He was a staunch supporter of the Museum of Army Flying and served as both Chairman of the Board and as Chief Executive for a period until the death of his wife, Rene. His funeral will be held at the Charlton Park Memorial in Andover at 1530 on 18 Oct 21. Donations to Cancer Research UK may be made online at www.malcolmhutchinson.muchloved.com

Doyle, Warren

Posted on: September 1st, 2021 by Chris No Comments

I have just received this sad message from Dion Stoll and Jay Hendy:
Chaps, it’s with a heavy heart that I find myself reaching out to old Army Avn friends in order to advise of the sad passing of Warren ‘Rick’ Doyle.
I believe he suffered some form of heart attack or seizure a few weeks back and I only found out when his wife Karen called last week.
Fortunately, Rick was able to see his son Ryan pass out from basic training earlier this year and – as you’d expect for a young Mr Doyle – secure the best recruit award.
I’m sure more information will cascade in good time and if you wish, I’ll use these same means to convey details of funeral arrangements once known.
Sorry for the sad news.
Regards,
Jay Hendy

From Peter Cuckoo

Ram Kanwar was the Sgt tech store man at 1Regt in Hildesheim. Ex Gurhka and excellent curry maker. He had problems keeping his Gurhka number 211***** when he joined REME. They wanted to give him a new number. Top man who unfortunately succumbed to mouth cancer, I believe.
